On September 1, 2019,
Hurricane Dorian settled over the Bahamas as a Category 5 hurricane. The storm caused extensive damage. BGR is on the ground responding with trusted partners.
After Hurricane Dorian, you showed up for the people of the Bahamas. A pastor in Pelican Point, one of the hardest hit areas, wanted to share his gratitude for your ongoing support of relief efforts in his community.

Through interviews with some of the few remaining residents in hard-hit regions of the islands, such as Marsh Harbour, BGR was able to get a clearer picture of just how instantaneous the hurricane’s onslaught was.

God is on the move in the midst of this calamity. First responders are continuing to show the love of Christ to families torn apart by the devastation incurred!
BGR has received word from partners on the ground that an estimated 5,000 Bahamians have been evacuated and are actively seeking shelter. Another 1,650 who were not able to flee are still seeking other solutions. As of Thursday, September 12, additional teams have landed and will be further helping rehabilitate the affected communities.
On the main island of Grand Bahama, life is beginning to return to normal, and BGR is working continuously with our Bahamian partners to respond to the needs of Abaco Island evacuees.
