Esther saved the entire Hebrew nation. Mary gave birth to the Son of God. The Bible is full of fierce women who rose above cultural expectations to change the world.

Today, on International Women’s Day, let’s empower more women like Deepika to reach the vast potential God has given each and every one of them.

Not long ago, Deepika’s father didn’t believe she could learn to sew—she only had a high school education and she knew nothing about sewing machines. He didn’t realize how much talent lay dormant inside his 20-year-old daughter, and he didn’t know Deepika could improve their lives if only given the chance. But, he let her take lessons anyway from a program friends like you helped fund.

And, Deepika did well.

The young woman picked up the skills easily and became one of the first in her class to use the sewing machine. In no time, her quick mind and steady hands pieced together gorgeous garments that could dazzle customers. She impressed her teachers—but more importantly—she impressed her father. In fact, he grew so proud of her that he bought her a sewing machine so she could open a tailoring shop.

Deepika had shown more strength and perseverance than he had thought possible.
