BGR partners traveled by boat to deliver relief supplies in a flooded Thai village recently, and as they passed by damaged homes, they said their non-Christian guides called out to other villagers.
"The Christians from the Bangkla Medical Clinic are coming to help," the guides shouted.
Two weeks of heavy rains caused widespread flooding in northern and central Thailand, forcing thousands from their homes. According to BGR partners, nearly 3 million residents in 12,667 villages had felt the effects of flooding. More than 50 people died.
As partners glided through the village in their boat, they delivered food and drinking water through second-story windows. The street lay six feet below them under water.
“Time after time, the homeowner would be in tears as they thanked us for coming to help in their time of need,” a partner said.
Now that floodwaters have receded, workers plan to return to the village to follow up on those they met in the disaster’s aftermath. They ask people to pray that the Thai people will be receptive to the Gospel.
