Better education in rural China

In rural western China, most teachers are poorly educated locals. Very few are college graduates. Improvements to the educational system are very difficult and educational prospects for students are equally bleak. The government has recognized this problem and is encouraging college graduates to work in these areas, but funding is limited and few graduates willing to go to remote areas. BGR partners sent five graduates or fourth-year college students to teach for one year at two rural primary schools. Local teachers will receive instruction on educational methodology to enhance their teaching quality. Through after school programs, students also will receive help with home life and relationships with parents.

Pray that schools will be a safe place for the young teachers who come to help. Ask God to use this educational investment to bring hope and better lives to these rural communities.
