UPDATE: As of October 15, the latest reports on Japanese Typhoon Hagibis  state that 40 people have been killed. Over 110,000 people are assisting in search and rescue operations, along with longterm relief work. The government has still not issued a request for international assistance.
Over the weekend, Typhoon Hagibis hit Japan, leaving a trail of destroyed homes and death. The super typhoon caused much water and wind damage, and the Japanese government has sent over 27,000 troops to the affected areas to provide assistance in the form of search, rescue, and temporary relief like temporary shelter and food. No request for international assistance outside of the country has been issued by the government.
