Disaster Update: Chinese Earthquake

On June 17th, 2:55 p.m., local time, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck Sichuan province in southwestern China. Based on the magnitude and the number of people in the affected area, the quake could have a medium humanitarian impact, according to the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System.

Currently, BGR teams are in the area, assessing the damage and the needs of the victims. We will continue to post updates as they are necessary and available. At this time, 12 people have died, and 134 have been injured.

Please pray for the victims of this earthquake and for the responders who are hard at work tending to their needs.
