Responding to Cyclone Idai in Mozambique
Disaster Response | Print
Last Thursday and Friday, March 14th and 15th, Tropical Cyclone Idai brought torrential rain and wind as it made landfall near Beira City in Mozambique. Sofala, Zambezia, Manica, and Inhambane provinces were also affected. At this time, many areas are without power and scant, if any, communication with the mainland due to tidal surge. The full extent of this monster storm is still being determined, but time-critical life-saving activities focusing on food, water, and sanitation are on-going.
BGR is in touch with implementing partners in the area hard at work, saving lives and meeting immediate needs. Please join us in praying for the families who have been devastated by these storms and the responders who are risking their own well-being to rescue and care for those who are suffering. Your support is critical to aid the on-going relief efforts and the rebuilding process that lies ahead. Today, remember those who are at risk with your thoughts, your prayers, and your actions. Please consider donating to BGR’s Disaster Relief Fund to provide aid to these individuals.
