BGR Open Position: Bookkeeper

Basic Job Title: Bookkeeper
Location: Nashville, TN (BGR US Offices)
Reports to: Chief Accountant
Status: Full-Time, Hourly

Summary: The bookkeeper position creates financial transactions and generates reports from that information. The creation of financial transactions includes posting information to accounting software from such source documents as cash receipts/donations, and vendor invoices. The bookkeeper also reconciles accounts to ensure their accuracy. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  1. Process and record cash receipts/donations
  2. Prepare and make bank deposits
  3. Maintain donor database
  4. Prepare and mail donor receipts and “Thank You” letters
  5. Produce periodic and annual donor giving statements to mail
  6. Pay vendor/supplier invoices in a timely manner
  7. Process employee  expense reports – credit card and/or advances
  8. Prepare monthly feedback reports for field personnel and management
  9. Maintain the petty cash fund
  10. Prepare and record journal entries
  11. Conduct a monthly reconciliation of every bank account
  12. Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy
  13. Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit
  14. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  15. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
  16. Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested
  17. Follow accounting policies and procedures


The bookkeeper candidate should have an Associate’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles. Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of the Accounting Seed accounting software package and/or the Salesforce customer relations management package. Should also be proficient in using Microsoft Office products, have strong attention to detail with the ability to focus on detailed, data entry tasks, and have good communication skills, both written and verbal.
